Toben Stubee '05

Toben Stubee '05
Claude Swartvagher Memorial Scholarship

Toben, of Orlando, FL, took a job working in foodservice during high school. When he was laid off from that position and went to work for an "independent, chef-driven" restaurant, he was inspired to pursue cooking as a career.

With an outstanding 3.92 GPA, Toben is anxious to continue his studies in the bachelor's degree program for the "many professional opportunities it will provide me." In the meantime, he acts as a Group Leader and member of his graduation committee.

Toben's goal is to "make a lasting impression on the industry and be recognized for my efforts." He aspires to open a restaurant on the coast of Florida "founded on the principles of the slow-food movement --preserving the quality and tradition of local products, seasonality, and the eating ritual."
